Chalkfest - June 27 & 28, 2026

Opens May 1st online using the link above. Cost to participate is $35. Each artist receives a box of 48 pastels and an assigned space. Pre-registration is required. Chalk spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis.  No cancellations or refunds available.

SPACE SIZES:
SMALL – (4’ x 4’ to 4’ x 6’)
MEDIUM – (5’ x 6’ to 6’ x 7’)
LARGE – (6’ x 7’ to 7’ x 9’)  

Space sizes are determined by the sidewalk seams.  There are 26 different sizes in various quantities.  The spaces are shown with the ranges of size in each. The largest size spaces may contain one or more lines. Due to these pre-set spaces and increase in participation, we cannot guarantee co-neighbor placement requests.

Participants for ChalkFest Wausau must be 12 years of age and older. Those 11 and under are encouraged to be a part of a group space or to join in the Children’s ChalkFest.

SATURDAY SCHEDULE:

-Check-in is available starting at 8 AM

-You will be provided your space assignment and any paperwork

*spaces are not held past 11 AM and any reserved spaces that are not checked in will be released at 12 PM*

SUNDAY SCHEDULE:

-artists continue working on spaces

-participant judging 1 PM to 3 PM

-Awards Ceremony at 4 PM

Kids under 12 can explore their artistic talents with two options. No registration required.

Option 1: $5 – Box of colored chalk and the use of a small chalkboard
Option 2: $10 – Set of 12 pastels and sheet of art paper you can take home

Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 9 AM to 4 PM

Check-in at the Children’s ChalkFest registration tent on the 400 Block. Must be supervised by a parent/guardian.

Summer is HOT! Wear a hat & sunscreen to protect yourself.

Pastels are provided in multiple colors, make sure to purchase additional pastels if you are using a few predominant colors in your design.

Parking is available on all city streets in Downtown Wausau during the event.

In case of inclement weather, the committee will make the decision to cover spaces (including timing). Help from artists will be requested, and plastic sheeting will be provided. There are no refunds for inclement weather.
